2019 Swimming Championships split into separate 13 to 19 Years and 10 to 12 Years components

School Sport Australia (SSA) Championship policy requires all students to attend an entire Championship program, including the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, the Education Excursion and all competition. This is so all students experience the full social, cultural and educational benefits of an SSA Championship as SSA’s aim is to use sport to achieve educational outcomes.
However, SSA also recognises the costs families are required to pay to participate in a sport that has an individual focus to it, such as Swimming. The SSA Board has therefore approved a recommendation that in 2019 the SSA Swimming Championships will be divided into two separate age group components. The 13 – 19 Years program will take place over the first few days of the Championship before the 10 – 12 Years age group events occur. This will reduce the amount of time students have to attend the Championship.
