The 2017 School Sport Australia 18 Years and Under Tennis Championships are well underway in Shepparton with Day 4 of competition unfolding on the courts today.
Proudly hosted by School Sport Victoria (SSV), the Championships were officially opened on Saturday, 29 April at the Shepparton Lawn Tennis Club by Greater Shepparton Mayor Dinny Adem.
Cr Adem said he was delighted that the Greater Shepparton City Council was hosting the 2017 Pizzey Cup.
“We’re pleased that our community will get to see Victoria’s top young tennis players compete. Well done for devoting your time and upholding the best qualities of sportsmanship and teamwork.”
SSA Tennis National Secretary Graeme Waight said on Day 4 of competition that the standard of tennis was really strong with the final days shaping up to be an exciting finish to the Championships.
“It’s been a wonderful few days in Shepparton and I would like to congratulate all of the students who have participated this week.”
“It’s also been terrific to have Ben Robertson from Tennis Australia here each day presenting the Education Program on mindfulness and well-being. We’ve had some really positive feedback from students and parents about the sessions which is great.”
SSA would like to thank a number of people and organisations for their fantastic work on bringing the Tennis Championships to life:
