posted on 18 May, 2017

May sets an exciting scene for School Sport Australia’s International Tour Program with three All Australian teams heading overseas to compete on the international stage.

The SSA All Australian Netball team, made up of the countries best netballers from the 2016 SSA Netball Championship, left for Fiji on Friday, 12 May to compete in the Digicel Punjas International Secondary Schools Netball Challenge at the Vodafone Arena in Suva.

Head Coach Danielle Edwards said the 25 players are very excited to be in Fiji to compete and are looking forward to participating in the international tournament.

“This is also a great time to get to know other girls who come from different cultural backgrounds.”

“We are here to do our best and our ultimate aim is to make it to the final on Saturday and win the gold medal,” she said.

The Opening Ceremony and Day 1 of competition begun Tuesday, 16 May with the Aussie girls taking home two wins for the day against the Fiji Secondary Schools (61 – 11) and Fijiana FANZ (55 – 17).

Day 2 of competition will see the All Australian team face Fiji and Auckland Somoa.
